What Is Ocean Lab

Coastal Science in the
Heart of Carolina Beach.

Children spend two hours exploring local aquatic life and learning coastal science in our indoor ocean lab. Sessions are hands-on, curiosity-driven, and led by a certified NC teacher.

Our small class sizes — never more than ten students — promote inquiry-based learning and allow every child to grow their appreciation of the brilliant coastal habitats of the Carolina coast.

Meet Ms. Lizz.

Certified NC Teacher  •  Experienced International Scuba Diver  •  Coastal Educator

All Ocean Lab sessions are led by Ms. Lizz Howard — a certified North Carolina teacher and experienced international scuba diver with a deep love for the Carolina coast. Lizz brings the same care and professionalism to the shoreline that she brings to the classroom.

Our small class sizes allow Lizz the ability to give every child full attention — nurturing their curiosity and making sure they leave with a genuine connection to the world just beyond the shoreline.
